Desmond Moreland

Home Inspector Desmond Moreland entered the home inspection business nearly three decades ago and has been serving homebuyers and professionals since 1989. In the aftermath of the 1994 Northridge earthquake, Desmond devoted himself to the reconstruction of the affected neighborhoods of Los Angeles, California, inspecting for homeowners, insurance companies, and investors. During this time, Desmond inspected more than 2,200 homes.

Including his experience as a home inspector, Desmond’s construction career spans more than 40 years, beginning in 1976 when he joined the Carpenters Union. As a carpenter, his first multi-floor project involved learning and installing Anti-Sway Earthquake Tie Systems. From carpentry, Desmond moved into general construction, specializing in concrete foundations and wood and steel framed buildings. Desmond advanced through the ranks at the Los Angeles Land Company, providing large-scale construction planning, building, and finishes.

Desmond went on to start MDM Builders Inc., building premier custom homes in the greater San Diego area. His homebuilding clients included everyone from professional athletes to families wanting custom-built homes. In 2013, Desmond was recruited to design, build and manage a private lakefront subdivision in Winchester, TN and now shares his expansive construction-industry knowledge with his American Home Inspections Tennessee clients.
